About the project
The Huomisvoimalaitos Kokonniemi is a development project where companies can design, test, and develop energy-efficient and low-carbon solutions as part of the future sports center in Porvoo. Construction will begin in 2026, marking the gradual realization of the new Kokonniemi sports center. The project offers a practical environment where ideas are quickly turned into experiments and moved towards business.
Solutions developed in the Huomisvoimalaitos project cannot be implemented in the Kehittyvä Kokonniemi project, but in other upcoming projects, these solutions may lead to practical implementation. The collaboration includes companies, the city, research organizations, and other stakeholders. Together, they develop solutions that improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and create new products and services for the market. For companies, this means a concrete opportunity to develop their own business: you get to participate in co-development, receive support for concept development and testing, as well as valuable references and networks.
The project will be carried out during 2026–2028 and is funded by the Uusimaa Regional Council through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The implementers are Posintra Ltd and Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences. The goal is to develop a replicable operating model and a virtual simulation environment where solutions can be evaluated before investments. The result will be new energy-efficient services, tested concepts, and business opportunities for companies. Huomisvoimalaitos is not just a project – it is a platform where future competitiveness is built together.
